Patricia Walden Workshop

Patricia Walden spent over four decades of regular study with renowned yoga master BKS Iyengar.  Her devotion to her teacher and to the subject of yoga has defined her life’s journey.

Patricia was listed by Yoga Journal as one of the 25 American Yoga Originals who have helped shape yoga in the West.  Time Magazine has also featured her work with yoga and healing.  Patricia has a special interest in yoga, specifically for women and yoga for depression.

After the death of BKS Iyengar, she also feels called to share as much from her time with Iyengar as she can, keeping his subject and spirit very much present for next generation students of Iyengar yoga.   She currently teaches in the Boston-Cambridge area and travels worldwide to share of her studies with Iyengar. Patricia Walden authored the book, 'The Women's Book of Yoga and Health' (with Linda Sparrowe). She has also created Gaia's Yoga for Beginners DVDs, which teaches that yoga is a path to awakening the mind-body-spirit connection.

We are deeply grateful that Patricia will be offering an inaugural workshop and blessing of our new (and permanent) Iyengar Center in Nashville.

The workshop is full!  Please feel free to email the studio if you would like to be put on the wait list.

Edwin Bryant is a tenured professor at Rutgers University and a wandering sadhu of sorts, devoting his life to teaching not only in the academic setting but also to the general population curious about yoga and its history.  Edwin spent a number of years in an ashram in India before pursuing an academic career in Indic languages and Culture at Columbia University. One of his great gifts is that his teachings are not limited simply to scholarly studies, he has a rich devotional practice that links him to his teachings from the heart.  In addition to teaching at Rutgers full time, Edwin travels the world teaching the philosophical underpinnings of the yoga tradition.  Edwin's gift as a teacher is that his studies come from not only a pure academic background but also from his personal yoga and meditation practice.  He merges academic knowledge with experiential knowledge and guides students effortlessly and with joy into the heart of the textual yogic tradition. This workshop will dive into the Yoga Sutras of Patanajali and the Bhagavad Gita, exploring principles of practice and the role of devotion.  It is not to be missed!  All levels, all yoga backgrounds, all curious souls welcome!
